Jeremy is moving to a new school – again. No one understands why school is so hard for him. His teachers say he doesn’t care. His parents think he doesn’t try. Something isn't right with Jeremy...

I hear these words often. I also hear "you are just being lazy." Or, "you need to try harder." And "you don't care."

I do care. I'd like to tell you why I am like this, but I can't. My brain won't let me. It's busy doing other things. I'm a 12-year-old boy on the outside. But inside, I am different. Failure follows me everywhere.

Perfect View For Understanding 2E World

Being a teacher of the Gifted and Talented, I thought this was a great book for all teachers to read. Now, I feel it is a great book for all to read, especially if you come across someone who is just different. They are brilliant with a touch of uniqueness. This is a great story and you get to get a feel for how some kids think. I loved it and hope to add some things to my own teaching world, including the five "Truths."

This is a very positive story for young adults or all ages, really. It was probably not the intent of the book, but I have family members with ADHD and this is a great story for helping to understand the disorder as well as a lesson in how kindness, and nontraditional methods can solve problems. Just like the characters in the book, most kids with ADHD or ADD have experienced these same situations. Too bad this is fiction as the wonderful school portrayed in this book makes me want to go back to school!

My family thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! As the parent of a 2e teen, it truly spoke to my heart. My son has had similar challenges as the main character in the book. To see a real, honest portrayal of a 2e youth was refreshing. More importantly, my gifted/ADHD/anxiety son was able to relate to the main character, enjoy the successes he had, and that gave my him hope for his own successes in the future. I highly recommend "Background Noise"!
