This book was perfect for me because I am a new leader and struggled to balance being a Christ-like leader with the negativity of the work culture. My main question was, how can I kindly give a correction? This book answered that, plus more

A good basic leadership reader for the Christian aspirant leader. Just the right mix of standard fare leadership material and Christian teachings. A decent resource.

This is a great tool not only for leaders but for those who follow.
Th book is clearly based on Scripture and defines good christian leadership in terms actions taken based on godly attitudes.
It is applicable to any position of leadership from the family, to business, to sport, and in any profession
.
Written by Bill Oaks, a businessman, pastor, teacher, and church elder, the book describes 14 godly attitudes that are foundational for the actions a leader needs to take to guide, inspire and enable others to do their work well and with effectiveness in serving Christ.

Jesus is given the honor due Him as the best leader ever. He taught us and lived out how we can be like Him.
This is the key message of the book.

In summary I would highly recommend this book for any person who leads others as well as for anyone who follows and is responsible to that leader. Everyone will be blessed if we put into practice what Pastor Oakes shows us about Christlike leadership

I found Christlike Leadership to be well-written and a very quick read (just a couple of hours). Although it talks about the typical leadership tasks (creating a vision, delegation, managing staff and projects, discipline, etc.), it does not take the approach used in hundreds of other leadership books. It does not talk about the mechanics of these leadership tasks; that has been done ad nauseum. Instead, it talks about the leader's attitude in executing these tasks. Great execution of leadership responsibilities, but with the wrong attitude, can be just as ineffective (or worse) as poor execution. By aligning one's attitude with the 'Christlike principles' Mr. Oakes cites, leaders can more effectively and positively accomplish their management responsibilities and fulfill their organization or project mission. Mr. Oakes uses Biblical references to emphasize and illustrate these leadership attitudes or principles, but he could just as easily have used humanistic or 'common decency' examples. The book would be especially good for faith-based organizations, but all leaders and organizations could benefit from assessing their attitudes against those presented in the book.

I don't think this was quite the book I thought it was when I downloaded it for free. It deals quite a bit with business and assumes that the reader is already a leader. I'm not a leader. However perhaps if I'm called to be a leader what I've read in this book will be usefully. I have copied several of the passages in the book to my evernote to be a reminder.

Thank you Bill for this book. Christlike leadership is something I have always wanted to model. The content in this book has empowered me to continue pursuing this model. I believe I have been a great manager but was lacking a few things. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to be a servant leader.

Excellent read. I like how the author broke leadership into bite-sized chunks! Thank you for endeavoring to write this book!
